Freedom- FSF

As I locked the door, it struck to me that I have forgot to wear something.

Toggling between the two options that my brain gave, "Go ahead" and "Go Back", I chose to go ahead!

The questioning stares on the road proved to me that I was wrong, yet I wasn't deteriorated.

Patting myself that I was brave enough to come out like that, I forged a few steps ahead, but couldn't move any further.

Heaving long breaths, I hurried back home and hastily took 'it' from the closet and wrapped it around my freezing body, sighing that it isn't time yet, to fancy freedom from the inevitable heavy winter jackets!!

Written as a part of Five Sentence Fiction by lillie mcferrin. This week's prompt is 'Freedom'.

  1. Excellent! This was very clever. I enjoyed your take on the prompt, and you had me right up to the end, when she got her jacket out of the closet. I thought she was naked until then. Funny.

  2. It sounds to me as if that individual in your FSF is vying to become a member of some sort of "Polar Bear Club." There are clubs like this world the world whose members take a dip in the ocean with just some swimwear in the dead of winter. It's interesting to read the different takes you can get from one simple prompt word.

    1. hmm.. i always take my fiction keeping 'me' as the subject, because there ll be no one asking me, "How dare you?.. and regarding this one, it is purely my imagination, because i come from a part of the world where we have hot, hotter, hottest days and winters of this kind are a sort of dream and I would never ever venture coming on the road without a jacket :) Thanks robin.. i hope i can take yours as a compliment :)
